Best wishes

I always feel a touch of sadness at UIS's annual Retirement and Recognition ceremony, and this year was no different.

I watched and applauded as a few dozen of my colleagues had their names read ceremoniously to signal their farewell. With the dozens of colleagues are hundreds of shared stories, and I always remember a few of them with great fondness. This year, as 33-year computer science instructor Mary Sheila Tracy stepped forward, I thought of her working with students and robots in the tunnel between the PAC and Brookens Library. What a thrill for these students. I also think of Mary Sheila's dedication to our students who have formed an active Catholic student organization and now have Mass on campus every week.

Well done, Mary Sheila and colleagues! I wish you all the best and new discoveries of joy in the next phase of your life.
