It's no small thing

Today is Ali Fitzgerald's last day at UIS as the compliance officer in the Department of Athletics. She has been working for two years to make sure UIS is set up to follow all the NCAA rules, now that we're in the final stretch in the process of becoming a full member of NCAA Division II. Ali has been a wonderful colleague, and as the Senior Woman Administrator in Athletics, she also has been a great supporter of our student-athletes. Commencement tomorrow

Somebody asked me this week if commencement ever gets old, because I go every year. On the contrary, I said, I really look forward to it. As an administrator, I get to see many happy faces, hear many cheers, and see "accomplishment" and pride everywhere I go on commencement day. For me, the day serves as a powerful reminder of why I do what I do every day.
