Congressmen John Shimkus and Aaron Schock

Each of them represents a part of Springfield. Shimkus is from Collinsville, Schock from Peoria. Both were on campus yesterday for Shimkus's Small Business Advisory Committee meeting. Shimkus has been here many times. He commented that it's good for the party to have young people like Schock coming up. He strongly recommended that Republicans run candidates at all levels of government, because they are the ones who become "the bench" from which the party finds excellent candidates for higher office. Both congressmen served in local government before getting higher office. Sometimes we forget that when we vote for school board members or township trustees.
